2021 Women’s Weekend at the Cleveland Velodrome

Women’s Weekend is designed to introduce female cyclists to what track cycling is all about. The two-day clinic begins with an introduction to track bikes, how to ride banked walls and the skills needed to safely participate in track racing.
Saturday Overview
The morning will kick-off with coffee & healthy bites while participants sign in and bikes are assigned and fitted
Coach Introductions
Leading the clinic is local athlete and coach, Mary Kate Wintz, a.k.a., MK .
MK is a two-time National Champion, multiple UCI C1 and C2 events (Elite and Para), and is targeting an Elite Nationals Podium finish in 2021.

- Top ranked American Woman in the Elite Women’s 500m Time Trial
- 3rd place in a UCI C1 Tandem Match Sprint
- Emerging Elite Time Standard in the Tandem 1 Kilometer Time Trial
Local athlete, trainer and coach, Stacy Rhea will support MK throughout the clinic.

Clinic Outline
Participants will go thorough our standard Track 101 session, where they are introduced to single-speed bikes and the track. Track 101 is mandatory for all new riders.
Once familiar with the bikes and track, the coaches will begin slow-roll practice, followed by pace lining and drills to enhance your track experience.
Lunch
Lunch is being delivered. Vegan and gluten free options are available. Food supplier TBD
Q&A and nutrition tips with coaches and registered dietitian TBD.
The second half of the day will be geared towards discussions/hands-on skills to teach participants how to do standing starts, rolling starts and other drills to aid in track racing.
The clinic will begin wrapping up around 4 pm.
We are securing dinner plans and will have details soon.
Sunday Overview
Sunday begins with a gentle yoga session to wake up the body and mind.
Following yoga, participants will warm-up with drills they learned from Saturday. Race tactics and strategies will be discussed and introduced via mock races.

The remaining part of the day will focus on additional mock races and float time – allows riders to practice what they have learned.
